Mini Sumo 'Razorback 500g': 120A Brushless ESC Tuning & Magnetic Downforce Skirts

500g mini sumo lives and dies by traction. Razorback's previous skirt design relied purely on wedge geometry, which meant every match against a heavier pusher came down to friction coefficient alone.

This revision nests Grade N52 neodymium magnets directly into the lower chassis pocket, adding simulated normal force against the steel combat ring without adding meaningful chassis weight — our bench rig measured 4.8kg of added downforce.

The 120A brushless ESC retune was necessary to handle the extra current draw under load without tripping our over-current cutoff mid-match, and to keep throttle response linear enough for reflex-speed reversals.
