Mongol Aspiration International School Lab 204 Upgrades: Haas Mini-Mill CNC & Automated Solder Paste Station
Author: Dr. Arthur Sterling•Published: July 4, 2026•3 min read
A corporate STEM grant secured this summer has funded Lab 204's biggest hardware upgrade since the club's founding: a Haas Mini-Mill CNC and an automated solder paste dispensing station.
Previously, gearbox plates had to be outsourced or hand-filed from stock aluminum. The Haas Mini-Mill lets student engineers mill aerospace-grade 7075 aluminum in-house, cutting part turnaround from weeks to days.
The solder paste station pairs with our existing reflow oven to make small-batch SMD board production dramatically more consistent for rookie electronics teams learning to hand-place 0603 components.
